Gear I’ll be using next weekend hiking The Österlen Circle Trail

I only have sections 11 – 14 to do to complete hiking the Skåneleden Trail 3: Ås till åsleden, but I just don’t have enough time this weekend. So instead I’ll be doing The Österlen circle trail, which actually incorporates the last section 14 of Skåneleden Trail 3. This will be a bonus anyway because I’ll be able to check out the water source at Agusa and be better prepared when I do the longer stretch to complete SL3 next time.

I’ll be using my Zpacks Duplex tent, Cumulus Panyam 450 sleeping bag, Therm-A-Rest Neoair XLite – Regular sleeping pad and of course my Hyperlite Mountain Gear Windrider 3400 ultralight backpack.

Because of the lack of strength in my hands, due to arthritis,  I had to change my trekking poles to a pair of Black Diamond Trail last year. They are also my tent poles (2 uses). They are heavier, but they are easier for me to collapse etc. instead of the twist arrangement on the lighter Fizan Compacts which was an issue for me.

For my cooking system I have been using through my winter hikes a Toaks Light Titanium 550ml Pot (70g) with a BRS 3000T Titanium stove (25g). Thanks to Joe Brewer for the tip on the stove. I think that I will be using my preferred alcohol stove again from next month.

I’ll be wearing my inov-8 ROCLITE 282 GTX Gore-Tex Trail shoes again. They have been an excellent choice over the winter hikes, together with a pair of Darn Tough Boot socks (Full Cushion), and were a pleasure to wear, especially on the last hike, with all the slosh and snow.

And of course, I don’t go anywhere without my much loved and used EuroSchirm Swing liteflex trekking umbrella.

Happy trails!

  1. Water source at Agusa is a tap, reliable, plentiful and clean. Situated just by the large shelter side 10 meters from the toilet facilities across a gravel road.
